A practical guide

Review each decoded image copy.

  1. Choose the PDF and the page positions to inspect for embedded images.
  2. Run extraction and download the ZIP of PNG files and its manifest.
  3. Open the images and check each against its source page before reuse.

Try this example

Extract report figures as PNG copies and review their pixel dimensions and content before adding them to a presentation draft.

Before

  • PDF with pictures

After

  • Pictures + manifest
Input and expected output for this task. Illustrative example.

Before you start: These are decoded PNG copies, not the original compressed image files. Extraction may include hidden image areas, excludes annotation appearances and does not perform OCR.

Build a PDF from supported images
What you get

Extract embedded raster images as PNG in a ZIP. These are decoded copies, not the original compressed image files; hidden image areas may be included.

Limits and important details

10 MiB input, 200 source pages, 20 selected pages, 4 MP per page/image, 24 MP total and 48 MiB ZIP; extraction also caps at 100 images. Stencil masks and grouped inline images are unsupported. Extraction excludes annotation appearances and does not apply page clipping, rotation or overlays; hidden image areas may be included. Repeats are deduplicated within each page only. Complex PDFs can need more memory. No OCR; ZIP is not PDF input.

Example

Extract pictures from pages 1-3 and inspect the ZIP manifest. A picture may include areas hidden by page clipping.
